Get to know me!
My name is Emily – you can call me Emmy. I am a practicing creator of stuff and things.
Stuff and things can be a lot more meaningful than it sounds and is more of an all-encompassing collection of strategy, design, communications, and moving pieces that connect brands and services to the people who need them. I mainly work as an Art + Creative Director. With that being said, I feel it is important to acknowledge, right off the bat, that being the producer of stuff and things has an environmental and social impact. Since earning my Bachelor of Design at OCAD University in Toronto, with this awareness, I have pursued projects that I believe uplift the intended audience’s lives, and not just tap into them, developing thoughtful concepts and genuine storytelling to express a brand’s authenticity. I believe that strong conceptual skills, immense foresight, and an understanding of human nature + psyche propels my creativity forward.
My philosophy—not only in my work but how I navigate the world and how I’d navigate your brand—is quite simple: exist authentically, have integrity, and be bold.
To exist authentically is showing good faith. It means to express radical honesty, with the understanding that nothing is permanent and still. Acting congruent with your values and desires, despite the external pressures of social conformity. Don’t merely know thyself—be thyself.
To have integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is looking—subjective, I know—being a conduit of my morals and ethics, deeply connected to how I navigate my work. Taking responsibility and accountability. Expressing gratitude. Valuing openness. Demonstrating reliability and trustworthiness. Having a keen focus on inclusivity + diversity. And making strides toward constant improvement of self and skill—which isn’t as linear as it sounds.
And to be bold. Fortune favors the bold. So, embrace humor, think forward, and get disruptive.
